    About David Shepherd

    Shepherd focuses his practice primarily on commercial real estate and finance transactions. He has counseled developers, for-profit, and not-for-profit corporations in the acquisition and disposition of various classes of commercial real estate, as well as financing transactions.

    Additionally, Shepherd is experienced in drafting and negotiating office and retail leases on behalf of both owners and tenants; as well as license agreements, operating agreements, shareholder agreements, the formation of corporate documents, and other real estate transaction-related documents.

    As a young real estate attorney, Shepherd recognizes the importance of both being involved in the local legal community and connecting with young leaders in the New York real estate industry. He is a member of the New York State Bar Association, New York City Bar Association, and New York County Lawyers Association.     About Anthony Brichta

    Brichta concentrates his practice on commercial litigation, corporate matters, and liquor law. He has joined the firm’s expansive Liquor Law, Licensing, Manufacturing, and Distribution Industry Group and brings his wide-ranging experience to its alcohol manufacturing and distribution clients.

    In addition, Brichta has handled a broad range of civil litigation matters for private and municipal clients. He has extensive experience in creditors’ rights, municipal litigation, tax assessment and tax claim litigation, appellate practice, insurance defense and coverage, plaintiffs’ litigation, commercial disputes, bankruptcy, and juvenile dependency matters.

    A resident and native of the Lehigh Valley, Brichta is co-founder and CEO of a start-up craft distillery in Allentown and Easton. He has volunteered for an income tax clinic relief program in New Orleans and taught the Junior Achievement Program at Brooklyn High School. Brichta was selected for inclusion in the 2019, 2020, and 2021 “Rising Stars” lists in Philadelphia Magazine by Super Lawyers®.

    Brichta received his J.D. from Duke University School of Law in 2008, where he participated in the mock trial and trial practice programs. He was also a member of the university’s wrongful convictions clinical program and assistant editor of its national political science journal, Political Communication. From Lehigh University, Brichta received his M.A. in 2005 and his B.A., summa cum laude, in 2004.

    About John Kelly

    Kelly, who is joining the firm’s Labor & Employment Practice Group, focuses his practice exclusively on labor and employment law. He advises clients on various local, state, and federal labor and employment laws.

    Additionally, Kelly handles litigation matters from pleading through appeal, including discrimination and sexual harassment suits, workplace investigations, and wage and hour compliance, and employer investigations. He drafts employer and employee policies, handbooks, and contracts, and negotiates vendor contracts and agreements.

    Prior to joining the firm, Kelly was a clerk for the New Jersey Superior Court, Hudson County Vicinage Law Division in Jersey City for the Hon. Christine Farrington, J.S.C. He is an Army Veteran and JAG Officer in the New Jersey Army National Guard. In 2020, Kelly was elected to the Nutley Board of Commissioners, where he serves as Commissioner and Director of Nutley’s Public Affairs and Health Department.

    Kelly earned his J.D. from Seton Hall University School of Law in 2012, where he was a member of the Legislative Law Journal and recipient of the Del Tufo Constitutional Law Award; and his B.S., cum laude, from Georgia Institute of Technology in 2007.

  • May 14, 2021Dean Roberts Speaks at Coordinating Council of Cooperatives of Greater New York Virtual Meeting

    Dean M. Roberts, a Member of law firm Norris McLaughlin, P.A., and Chair of its New York Real Estate & Finance Law Practice Group and the firm’s Cooperative (“Co-op”) and Condominium Law Industry Group, spoke at the monthly virtual meeting of the Coordinating Council of Cooperatives of Greater New York (CCC) on Saturday, April 10.

    “Each month, I enjoy the conversation had with these cooperative board members. I am glad to be a part of and help this group of New York’s professionals in continuing their legal education to make their residents’ lives the best they can be,” said Roberts.

    About the Council of Cooperatives of Greater New York

    The CCC, composed of housing cooperatives ranging from seventy to thousands of units, aims to serve as a sounding board for circulating ideas and experiences that may apply to other cooperatives and to implement joint programs for economic and political achievement.

    At the meeting, Roberts addressed general information regarding Housing Court, accumulated arrears, landlord-tenant matters, marijuana laws, and nuisance issues. Participants also had the opportunity to ask questions about their specific cooperatives. Additionally, a representative of Get Women Cycling joined the meeting to discuss the services, education, and support they offer for safe street passage and the changing landscape of daily commuting in New York City.     About Dean Roberts

    Roberts focuses on real estate litigation with a sub-specialty in the representation of cooperative housing corporations and condominiums. He has handled all facets of condominium and cooperative ownership, from sponsor/purchase and conversion to representing well-established tenant-shareholder Boards of Directors. Roberts also represents cooperative corporations and moderate-income co-ops in all areas of litigation, including landlord/tenant.

    Through his involvement with the Coordinating Council of Cooperatives, Roberts is active in court reform efforts and the cooperative movement. In his community, he works to promote affordable housing as a director of the Cooperative Development Fund Board of Advisors and other housing programs.

    About Chris Erd

    Chris devotes his practice primarily to land use and zoning, environmental, regulatory permitting, real estate transactions, community associations, leases, landlord/tenant, business counseling, and transactions. He regularly appears before municipal and county land use agencies on various development applications. Chris has been involved in land use approvals, leases, and sales for energy projects, including solar and battery storage.

    In November of 2009, Chris was a member of a distinguished panel of speakers discussing land use and zoning issues and procedures in New Jersey at the”2009 Annual Planning Conference” for licensed professional planners, held by the New Jersey Chapter of the American Planning Association and the Edward J. Bloustein School of Planning and Public Policy at Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey, in New Brunswick.
